Physics Lab at The Girls Gurukul

Our Physics Lab is designed to ignite curiosity and deepen students’ understanding of fundamental scientific principles. Equipped with cutting-edge apparatus, our lab allows students to conduct a wide range of experiments in mechanics, optics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics.

Teaching Approach

Optics Instruments

The lab is equipped with lenses, mirrors, prisms, and spectrometers to study the properties of light. Students perform experiments on reflection, refraction, dispersion, and interference to understand fundamental optical principles.

Mechanics Equipment

To explore Newton’s laws of motion, friction, and forces, the lab includes pendulums, inclined planes, force tables, spring balances, and pulleys. These tools help students analyze the effects of forces on objects and measure acceleration.

Electrical and Electronic Components

The lab provides resistors, capacitors, transformers, diodes, transistors, breadboards, and multimeters for circuit-based experiments. Students learn about Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Laws, and AC/DC circuits.

Magnetism and Electromagnetism

For the study of magnetic fields and induction, students use bar magnets, solenoids, electromagnets, and galvanometers. Experiments include visualizing magnetic field lines, understanding Faraday’s Law of Induction, and constructing simple electromagnets.

Heat and Thermodynamics Tools

To explore temperature, heat transfer, and thermodynamic laws, the lab features calorimeters, thermometers, heat conduction apparatus, and expansion measurement devices. Students perform experiments on Boyle’s Law, Charles’s Law, and heat capacity.

Measuring Instruments

Precision is crucial in physics, and the lab includes vernier calipers, screw gauges, micrometers, stopwatches, and weighing balances for accurate measurements. These instruments help in determining dimensions, density, and time intervals

Mechanics and Motion Experiments

These experiments help students understand the fundamental principles of motion, forces, and energy transfer. Newton’s Laws of Motion: Using an inclined plane, students observe the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration, verifying Newton’s Second Law (F = ma).

Electricity and Magnetism Experiments

These experiments introduce students to electric circuits, resistance, and magnetic fields. Ohm’s Law Experiment: By varying voltage and measuring current in a circuit, students confirm V = IR and determine the resistance of a conductor.

Optics and Wave Experiments

These experiments explore the properties of light, reflection, refraction, and wave behavior. Reflection and Refraction of Light: Using mirrors and lenses, students measure angles to study how light bends and follows Snell’s Law. Young’s Double-Slit Experiment: Demonstrating the wave nature of light.
